HEALTHY BREADS

 

Healthy bread making is actually quite easy, once you learn some basic techniques, and nothing smells as wonderful as baking bread.

 

  

 

 

 

Location: Hahnville High School

 

1 session: March 22

 

Thursday, 5:45 – 8:00 p.m.

Tuition: $20.00


Wheat Starter

¼ cup very warm water 110 f
1 teaspoon dry activated yeast
½ teaspoon granulated sugar
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ cup wheat flour
1/8cup hi-gluten bread flour.

1. Mix first four ingredients together in a non-reactive container. Let set for five minutes to assure the yeast will activate.
2. Next sift the two flours together.
3. Add to the rest of the ingredients.
4. Mix together well until wet dough is formed.
5. Let set for 24 hours in a non-reactive container at room temperature.
